Supporting the local Foodbank over summer

Over 3 weeks during the summer, members of the Just Digital team volunteered at our local foodbank in Godmanchester to help run their summer Pop Up Shop. This incredible initiative provides parents with additional food support throughout the school summer holidays which can be a particularly challenging time for some families. Just Digital has supported our local Trussell Trust foodbank since 2016 by collecting food donations and fundraising for their winter campaign, and this was the first opportunity team members have had to volunteer in person.

JD team members volunteered with a range of tasks, including helping to choose and weigh shopping, packing, carrying bags, restocking, making cups of tea and by being generally friendly, kind and approachable.

“I really appreciated the opportunity to get involved, to talk to people and to help them with their shopping. It was an eye-opening experience, particularly seeing how much work goes into the preparation, not only for the Pop Up Shop but also for the regular foodbank which runs alongside this incredible summer initiative.”

A big thank you to everyone at Godmanchester FoodBank for letting us get involved and to all the JD team members who volunteered. Having the opportunity to support our community and to work more closely with one of our charity partners was fantastic.
